Dina Joniarta

I’m Dina Joniarta, a Green Studies educator at Green School Bali and an educator since 2005. I am a lifelong learner of nature and deeply connected to Balinese culture, local wisdom, and the living world around me.

For me, teaching is not only about giving children knowledge. It is about helping them notice what is already around them, the plants growing beside them, the soil beneath their feet, the stories carried by their culture, and the wisdom passed down through generations.

I am especially passionate about plants and traditional Balinese herbal knowledge. I love learning about the herbs around me, making simple traditional herbal preparations, and discovering the stories, relationships, and cultural knowledge connected to them. This personal passion has naturally become part of how I teach.

Through Green Studies, I create hands-on experiences where children learn by touching, observing, making, questioning, and caring. I believe local wisdom should not simply be remembered as something from the past. It can remain a living source of learning that helps us imagine a more connected and regenerative future.

My hope is to help the next generation understand that regeneration can begin with something very simple: knowing where we come from, paying attention to what is around us, and learning how to live in relationship with it.
