Joan Gallares

Joan Gallares is an author, legacy writing mentor, and founder of The Lifescribing Company, whose work explores memory, storytelling, and what we carry across generations. She is the author of Lifescribing: A Soulful Companion for Writing Your Legacy Story.

Before founding The Lifescribing Company, Joan spent more than two decades in journalism, publishing, and media as a writer, editor, and creative and content executive. She now leads Authors Circle, a year-long guided writing program where she mentors people in transforming their lived experiences and family histories into books.

In April 2025, she delivered the keynote entited The Ancestors’ Dream: Shaping the Future Through the Stories We Leave Behind at the Women Changing the World Summit in London, and later that year facilitated a Lifescribing Story Circle at the Frankfurt Buchmesse. In 2024, Joan delivered a keynote on the Hero’s Journey: Becoming the Author of Your Own Story at Manifestival in Manila.

Her work now extends to children and intergenerational learning through her forthcoming book, Jia the Storykeeper, inspired by a conversation with her father. At the heart of Joan’s work is the belief that we are both keepers of what came before and creators of what comes next.
