Kelly Boucher is an Australian artist-educator, independent scholar and pedagogical consultant whose work explores how arts-based inquiry can cultivate more thoughtful relationships with Place, materials and the living world. For more than twenty-five years she has worked across gallery education, community arts, universities and early years education, developing projects that bring theory and practice into conversation through art-based materials inquiry. Kelly’s work is informed by posthuman, feminist and Place-responsive scholarship that foreground relationality, reciprocity and ethical response-ability. Her research investigates how simple artistic practices can become powerful pedagogical methods for cultivating perception, slowing attention and generating new possibilities for ‘living well with the world’ (VIntimilla, 2012).
She has presented nationally, internationally, and has published on arts-based pedagogies, pedagogical documentation, materiality and Place-responsive education. Through long-term partnerships with schools and communities, she supports educators and leaders to develop living research cultures where curiosity, dialogue and collective inquiry become everyday practice.
Kelly’s work invites people to think radically otherwise about pedagogy, not as a method of teaching, but as an ethical practice of generating more thoughtful, (re)generative and livable futures.
