Sofia Michopoulou

Sofia Michopoulou is an architect and researcher based in Athens, Greece, whose work explores the intersection of architecture, computational design, digital fabrication and regenerative thinking. She holds a Diploma in Architecture from the National Technical University of Athens and an MAS in Architecture and Digital Fabrication from ETH Zurich.

Her practice combines architectural design with computational methods, material experimentation and research into alternative modes of making. Her work has been recognised in international architecture competitions, including a second prize for “Learning Under Shared Roofs,” a secondary school proposal developed for Senegal, and a second prize for “The Pro-Sumer,” a speculative timber architecture exploring relationships between buildings, energy and production.

Alongside professional practice, she has developed research and experimental projects involving robotic fabrication, CNC manufacturing, computational geometry and participatory approaches to architecture. Her current research explores how architecture can move beyond sustainability as impact reduction toward regenerative relationships between people, materials, climate and living systems.
