Rembulan Kania Maniasa is a Balinese leader, cultural advocate, and changemaker committed to empowering the next generation of Indonesian youth. Born in Yogyakarta, and raised in the United States from the age of 10, Kania’s identity has been shaped by the intersection of two worlds: modern opportunity and ancestral responsibility.
After earning her degree in Communications with a minor in Online Journalism from George Mason University, Kania began building a career in media and storytelling. But the deeper call to serve her homeland led her to actively promote Balinese culture across the U.S., sharing the richness of her heritage with global audiences.
That calling deepened in 2014, during a return visit to Bali when she encountered Green School Bali, a revolutionary model for sustainability and holistic education. Moved by its vision, Kania shifted the trajectory of her life and committed herself fully to making a difference on the island she still calls home.
In 2020, she was appointed as the founding Executive Director of the Green School Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to ensuring access to regenerative education for Indonesian students. Under her leadership, the Foundation has launched numerous high-impact initiatives, from youth environmental conferences and agricultural scholarships, to community-based sustainability programs and inclusive mentorship platforms. Each program is designed to not only uplift individuals, but also regenerate the land, preserve culture, and strengthen intergenerational connection.
Kania is also the founder and creative director behind the IGNITE Fundraising Gala, one of Bali’s most anticipated annual philanthropic events. Known for its immersive cultural storytelling, world-class performances, and powerful mission, IGNITE has raised substantial funds to support the Foundation’s work with local youth. Every detail from the theme to the art direction to the partnerships is a reflection of Kania’s vision and her belief that fundraising can be both transformative and soul-stirring.
She is also the Co-Founder of Project Nyai, a women’s empowerment community that supports Indonesian women through mentorship, career development, and well-being. Through curated events and workshops, Project Nyai creates safe spaces for growth, connection, and transformation.
As a passionate public speaker, fundraiser, and network builder, she uses her platform to spotlight young changemakers, advocate for equity in education, and reimagine what sustainable leadership can look like in Indonesia. Her mission is rooted in giving back to the land that raised her, by helping its people rise.
