Dr. Benjamin Freud

Benjamin is the Head of Upper School for Green School Bali. He is responsible the Middle School and High School learning program, which includes leadership responsibilities for all staff. He is currently the lead for the development and implementation of the Green School’s Biomimicry for Regenerative Design Lab.

For Benjamin, regenerative education is learning in service of life, a living, evolving practice rooted in relationship, place, and the renewal of ecosystems and communities. It moves beyond content delivery to invite learners into meaningful participation with/as the world around them, cultivating the capacity to notice, care for, and regenerate the living systems they are part of. At its heart, this approach sees education not as preparation for life, but as life itself, an unfolding process through which students grow as stewards, collaborators, and co-creators of a thriving presents and futures.

Prior to Green School, Benjamin served as the Whole School Director of Learning for Prem Tinsulanonda International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and in Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong as Head of School and Vice Principal of High School and Middle School respectively.

Benjamin began his career in the late 1990’s as a consultant for internet start-ups in Silicon Valley, working with individuals who aimed to change the world. The experience had a profound impact on his outlook regarding the power of education, innovation and entrepreneurship to have a positive impact on people and the planet.

Benjamin has a Ph.D in History from National University of Singapore, an MSc in Education, an MBA in International Business and an MA in International Relations.
